For Catholics Baptism is the first step in our lifelong commitment and discipleship. Whether we are baptised as adults or as babies.(It is sometimes spoken of as ‘Christening’.This is an old English reference to the fact that at Baptism we are given a CHRISTIAN NAME.) Baptism should take place very soon after the baby’s birth and should not be delayed because of social or other reasons. A time of preparation is required of parents, particularly in regard to attendance at Church so we ask you to get in touch with the parish priest, Fr James Caulfield.

Because they are older and therefore can better understand what is happening, there is a special course of instruction for them and their parents. We also ask for regular attendance at Church as part of the preparation. Again, the first step is to speak to Fr James or the Parish Secretary.
